Try It by The Jesus Loves Heroin Band

France

Thanks to everyone we met and who helped us out in France. We all had a great trip and played some amazing shows. We also managed to get most of our album recorded with Guilliame (hope thats spelt right) producing (friend of colines) and the recordings sound great...i've started the overdubs and first stage of mixing and you can hear the first mix of a new song 'Try It' on myspace now.

The tracks we recorded are:

Its Over
Try It
To Be Your Man
I Don't Need Revenge
Judas
I Don't Want To Start Again
Cold Love
Going To Hell
Someone You Knew
Losing My Mind
Be Mine
Going Nowhere
Don't Deny Me
Crawling Back

We need to record 2 more tracks:

Restless Heart
Tired Of Being In Control

and then choose 11 to go on the album.

08.06.2010 Setlist

Tuesday night at the Grapes was great. Little Robots were amazing and we really didn't want to play after their set. We had fun though.

Going To Hell
Gypsy Curse
I Don't Want To Start Again
To Be Your Man

The bad news of the night was that Kieron wouldn't be coming to France with us next week. We'll be a 4 Piece for the Tour with Joel taking over organ duties on some songs. All will return to normal (fingers crossed) when we return.

30.04.2010 Hope & Anchor

GIRLS ON TOP –

The slinkiest sleaziest Punk Rock n Roll chicks [and chap!] on the block still give it their all and grind out some fantastic garage shaped jump up and down manic ear manglers. With the whip may no longer get cracked but if it’s proper punk rock entertainment you want all bases get covered from The Heartbreakers to The Seeds to The Ramones and X Ray Spex…top flight..

PUSSYCAT AND THE DIRTY JOHNSONS -

Glam schlock punkabilly with a Su Catwoman lookalike up front and plenty of sleazeball rocknroll vibes/sounds/looks on offer… The Cramps meet The Yeah Yeah Yeahs- lots of the latter in the vocal style and lots of the former in the sound/general drift of tings. They also have a bit of LA punkabilly act X about them.....great stuff.

THEE SAVAGE GIGS -

Uber fuzz guitar led garage punk with elements of The Yardbirds, The Birds, The Fuzztones and mainly The Sonics- ramshackle and sexy like you likes it...

THE JESUS LOVES HEROIN BAND -

Tres contraversial name wotto?- but some remarkable if stark Seeds thru Billy Childish doe eyed lofi 60s punk vibes- very fetching..has that yearning my-baby-just-done-gone-left-me-and I just dropped some serious drugs bent and it is a bit bent but beautifully so. This is great! OK.. occasionally the playing is more Godz than God like, but what fine work. 'Slow fever'..indeed..

Signs

If every there were signs that we should'nt play last saturday they came thick and fast between are last rehearsal and the day of the gig. On my way to the last practice i got a text from kieron saying he'd be late, bailiff's from the council had been trying to get into his house, not good! I carried onto the practice room with my new set of keys thinking how nice it was i could finally let myself into the practice room...when i got there the door wouldn't open - the lock had broke and turned itself so that no key could fit! Bruce and joel managed to fix the door after about 20 minutes and practice could begin. it was a decent last practice and we were all looking forward to the gig. On friday Coline decided to go and get her bass fixed for saturday - unfortunatley before she got to the guitar shop she was hit by a car and spent the rest of the afternoon in hospital having her head stitched...

...Anyway, we played the gig and it went well.

Goodbye Duncan, Welcome Coline

Last month ended with the band searching for a new bass player. Duncan left the band in january after 3 months of fun. We had a great time with Duncan and his leaving came a little out of the blue but we soldiered on for a few weeks as a 4 piece. A couple of months before Duncan left we met Coline at a Hipshakes gig at The Harley. Bruce and i hung out with her that night and she seemed able to take alot of abuse and dish it out too, she told us about how she'd played bass in a couple of french garage bands and we all got on well. The was the only time we'd met but the fact she mentioned that she was a bass player ment that she was no.1 on the list to play bass for us. After a couple of rehearsals she is now part of the band.

A Busy Start To 2010

Recording for The Creep Outs 2nd release, a 7" released in America in the next few months, started on Sunday. Anderson and i have a song either side of the vinyl. Anderson's song is called 'You Ain't Mine' and has the same 6o's pop hooks as the first album, whilst mine is a slower country number named 'I Won't Hurt You'. They are both sounding pretty cool and i'm picking the rough versions up tonight so i can finish them off over the weekend. We have a backlog of songs to record for the second album but with Anderson returning to America today it is unsure when they will be recorded.

The next Jesus Loves Heroin Band practice will see us attempt to record a couple of songs 'Lose My Mind' and 'Restless Heart'. We'll hopefully push on this year and get the 2nd album recorded.

Also, moving house at the end of the month so it's going to be very busy...

And...I found a cool Amp in Wizard Guitars (Sheffield) from the late 60's early 70's and bought it on the spot.
